Using 2FA can improve security for important internal documents, files, software, passwords and sensitive information, which helps protect your business from ex-employees or scammers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>It automates tasks like password resets.<\/strong> Free up your customer service team\u2019s time from pesky \u2018password reset\u2019 calls. Instead of customers calling in to verify their identity before resetting a password, set up 2FA to do the job.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And one of the easiest ways to enable 2FA? Using SMS messages to send an OTP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does SMS 2FA work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To illustrate how <a href=\"https:\/\/messagemedia.com\/nz\/use-cases\/sms-for-authentication-and-verification\/\">SMS for two-factor authentication<\/a> could work in your business, here\u2019s an example of a typical \u2018log in\u2019 flow that uses 2FA.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Enter username and password<br><\/strong>First, the customer is prompted to enter their usual login details. This is typically a username and password, but it could also be an email address or phone number. So, by the time a scammer successfully cracks the code, it\u2019s likely to have expired.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Guessing leads to lockout. <\/strong>The way 2FA systems work is that, after a certain number of unsuccessful attempts, scammers will be locked out of an account.
