The Australian company seeks out delicious and unusual treats, partners with the producers, and creates luxurious gift baskets for Christmas, Birthdays, Mother\u2019s Day, Father\u2019s Day, and, basically, any gift-worthy occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>We help people be there for those special times, to let loved ones know our customers are thinking about them.<\/p>\n<cite>Head of Marketing, Nikki Barnett<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The challenge<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike many businesses, Hamper Emporium smashed it during the pandemic. Its gift baskets were the perfect way for people to treat loved ones separated by lockdowns and closed borders. But other retailers jumped on the gift basket bandwagon \u2013 so its competition grew, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAt one point, I saw a fast-fashion retailer promoting gift baskets,\u201d laughs Nikki. \u201cThat means the cost of acquisition was getting higher and higher.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With ambitious sales targets, Nikki needed a new way of talking to customers to boost repeat buys and smooth out the \u2018lumpy\u2019 sales cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>We now have growth targets of 20% in a downturn with interest rates going up. And no one wants to buy extra \u2013 we\u2019re not seen as a necessity.<\/p>\n<cite>Head of Marketing, Nikki Barnett<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The solution<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This gourmet gift basket company had used Google AdWords and other online advertising but found that the broader, less targeted messaging didn\u2019t return the ROI it was looking for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company started working with MessageMedia in mid-2022, playing around with the options and creating more targeted campaigns in the second half of the year. Nikki could immediately see that she\u2019d found her game-changer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was amazed at the difference in open rates, engagement, and click-throughs. It\u2019s so instant. The minute after I send an SMS, you can see revenue from our website spike. It\u2019s crazy,\u201d says Nikki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The results<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>SMS from MessageMedia has driven some serious engagement and sales for Hamper Emporium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOver the past 12 months, our repeat buys have increased by 36%, and MessageMedia is a big part of that,\u201d says Nikki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s also delivering the ROI she needs \u2013 especially compared to AdWords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re buying the keyword \u201cChristmas Hamper\u201d, that\u2019s $15 a click on AdWords. A text with MessageMedia is 10 cents. I can say to the board, \u2018Look how much I\u2019ve saved you!\u2019 That\u2019s a big win for me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nikki is most proud of an early-bird special the company ran with MessageMedia. The previous year, 750 registrations came through. This year it added an SMS message. The results speak for themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re over 2K and at 50% revenue growth compared to last year,\u201d says Nikki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Hamper Emporium\u2019s most successful campaign has to be Father\u2019s Day. Using info from its customer data profile (CDP), it sent a select group a single text, asking them to reply with their dad\u2019s drink of choice. They\u2019d then get a second text with a link to the ideal basket for dad. \u201cThat campaign was incredible,\u201d says Nikki. \u201cWe were taking the burden of having to think about it. That had amazing success.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\u2019s next?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Next on the list is working with MessageMedia to develop recipient-led delivery. Check a box when you buy your gift, and your recipient will get a text to choose their delivery time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nikki is also excited about what more she can do, now she has SMS in the marketing toolkit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>We\u2019ve been having some fun with it, she says. \u201cI\u2019d recommend MessageMedia, 100%.
